About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive growth in medical and aerospace molded elastomer business, with emphasis on LSR injection molding
- Identify, pursue, and close new business in medical devices, life sciences, and aerospace applications
- Leverage existing industry relationships and contacts to generate opportunities
- Serve as primary commercial and technical interface with customers
- Develop account strategies for OEMs, Tier 1s, and high-growth innovators
- Support upfront quoting and RFQ evaluation
- Provide part feasibility and DFM feedback
- Advise on material selection, including LSR, HCR, gum rubber, and specialty elastomers
- Develop tooling concepts, cavitation strategy, and molding process selection
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations on technically sound, executable quotes
- Translate customer requirements into internal technical and commercial inputs
- Advise customers on LSR injection molding, gum silicone injection molding, and compression molding
- Provide guidance on tooling design, molding tolerances, scalability, performance requirements, regulatory considerations, and material tradeoffs
- Travel regularly to customer sites, trade shows, and industry events
- Represent IRP Med as a technical authority and trusted manufacturing partner
- Build customer partnerships and drive revenue growth in medical and aerospace markets
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 10 years of experience in business development, sales engineering, or technical sales
- Experience within medical device manufacturing, aerospace elastomers, or silicone and rubber molded components
- Strong engineering background; Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, or related discipline preferred
- Knowledge of LSR and silicone elastomer materials
- Knowledge of rubber compounds and performance characteristics
- Knowledge of tooling design and molding processes
- Experience supporting complex quotes and early-stage program development
- Established industry contacts and customer relationships
- Ability to operate independently in a remote role
- Willingness and ability to travel as required
- Hands-on exposure to regulated medical manufacturing preferred
- Experience with medical quality and documentation requirements preferred
- Background with custom tooling and multi-cavity molding programs preferred
- Experience selling engineered components rather than commodity products preferred
- U.S. person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee), as required by U.S. export control laws
