About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide patient access services for ancillary, diagnostic, surgical, and emergency services
- Act as a liaison between INTEGRIS, patients, providers, and payers for pre-care account resolution
- Perform complex registration, scheduling, demographic verification, point-of-service payment processing, consent collection, document imaging, and documentation
- Verify coverage eligibility and insurance, calculate patient portions, and manage authorization requirements
- Adjust service-area schedules and accommodate special requests
- Accept inbound calls and resolve patient, provider, and insurance inquiries
- Collect patient payments and ensure financial clearance
- Document patient account activities, authorization requirements, and patient liability
- Perform filing, data entry, and related duties
- Explain coverage benefits, payer regulations, billing practices, and financial liability
- Resolve complex patient access and account issues and answer reimbursement questions
- Serve as a systems expert and provide on-the-job training, guidance, feedback, and performance support to patient access staff
- Monitor assignments and assess productivity
- Coordinate team-oriented process improvement and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Establish goals, track progress, and prepare data for presentation
- Maintain compliance with performance standards, EMTALA, HIPAA, regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and third-party contracts
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4 years of Patient Access operations activities (scheduling/registration/insurance) or related experience (billing, collections, accounts receivables)
- Previous experience in scheduling, registration, insurance, billing, collections, or customer service in a hospital or physician's office setting
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or healthcare certification (AAHAM CRCS, HFMA CRCR, NAHAM CHAA) preferred
- Previous experience with Microsoft Office programs and admission/discharge/transfer or billing/claims management software
- Previous experience with medical terminology, basic ICD-10 and CPT coding, healthcare program reimbursement, and methodologies
- Previous experience in at least 3 of scheduling, registration, insurance, billing, collections, and customer service
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party regulations
- Compliance knowledge of EMTALA and HIPAA, federal and state regulations, policies, procedures, guidelines, and third-party contracts
