About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer human resource plans and procedures
- Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures
- Prepare and maintain the employee handbook and policies and procedures manual
- Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
- Conduct new employee orientations
- Write and revise job descriptions
- Handle employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing
- Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend meetings and seminars
- Maintain HRIS records and compile database reports
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations
- Support performance management processes, including disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans
- Conduct HR investigations and provide recommendations
- Support designated geographic regions with a primary focus in California
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or relevant experience
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist role
- 5+ years of HR generalist experience supporting California employees
- Working knowledge of CA wage and hour rules, including meal/rest periods, overtime, final pay, CFRA/PDL leave, PAGA exposure, and California-specific compliance
- Working knowledge of compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee and union relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state employment laws
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Experience with HRIS systems
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
