About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Import and maintain large health services datasets within a SAS/Linux environment
  • Convert administrative and project data into SAS datasets
  • Perform data cleaning and validation activities and document data characteristics
  • Collaborate with project teams to align cleaning processes with research objectives
  • Implement secure data destruction procedures
  • Encode direct personal identifiers as data arrives at ICES
  • Prepare primary data collection project data for the ICES Linux data environment
  • Document encoding processes for audits and transparency
  • Develop and process SAS programs to convert administrative and study files into SAS datasets
  • Validate converted datasets through testing and quality control
  • Work with Technology teams, Research Program Managers, and external data partners to resolve data issues
  • Communicate status updates, issue resolutions, risks, and impacts to relevant stakeholders
  • Perform other duties within the scope of the position

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, biostatistics, or related field
  • 3 years of related work experience
  • Good SAS programming skills
  • Working knowledge of computer systems architecture, database design and record linkage methodology
  • Excellent understanding of data privacy, confidentiality, and security practices
  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system for data security management practices
  • Knowledge of the ICES Primary Data Collection Utility and use of administrative data in health services research considered an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Familiarity with SQL and Python programming would be an asset
  • Knowledge and experience using administrative data in health services research would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of research data collection platforms and data management systems would be an asset
  • Security clearance may be required
  • Successful candidate must reside within Ontario and be able to come into the office when required from time to time
