About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and lead legal awareness sessions on legal rights, civil procedures, and available services
- Build relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and community-based organizations
- Conduct legal needs assessments and feed findings into program planning and service design
- Provide accurate information through the help desk and manage referrals
- Provide individual legal counseling on civil status, documentation, family law, eviction, and arrest
- Conduct intake assessments, explain legal options, and advise clients on courses of action
- Screen clients for legal aid and representation eligibility and refer complex cases
- Explain legal processes, court procedures, and rights under Pakistani and international law
- Represent or accompany clients before administrative bodies, civil courts, and tribunals
- Prepare and submit legal documents, applications, appeals, case summaries, and court filings
- Track active cases, deadlines, progress, and resolutions
- Coordinate with project and protection teams on shared caseloads
- Support access to NADRA, IOM, and other documentation services
- Maintain case files, activity records, and secure client data
- Contribute to weekly and monthly reports on caseloads, service delivery, outcomes, and protection trends
- Collaborate with protection, casework, MHPSS, and women’s protection teams
- Maintain relationships with courts, legal aid providers, and local administration offices
- Participate in legal working groups, protection clusters, and coordination forums
- Apply gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches, including reasonable accommodation and home-based counseling
- Comply with PSEA, Child Safeguarding, anti-harassment, and information-sharing policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent law degree is required
- A license to practice law in Pakistan is required for legal representation work
- Minimum two years of experience in legal aid, access to justice, or protection work
- Experience working with women and girls in protection-sensitive settings is required
- Familiarity with Pakistani civil law, family law procedures, NADRA documentation, UNHCR registration, and international protection frameworks
- Ability to explain legal concepts clearly to clients with limited literacy or education
- Sound judgment in managing sensitive cases, including GBV, child protection, and legal status
- Ability to manage an independent caseload while working effectively within a team
- Strong documentation, case recording, and reporting skills
- Understanding of confidentiality, do no harm, and survivor-centered protection principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, multi-cultural environment
- Urdu: mandatory professional fluency, spoken and written
- Pashto: mandatory professional fluency, spoken and written
- Dari: preferred
- English: working proficiency preferred
