About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Receive and assess medical assistance requests from insured travellers
  • Identify case severity, complexity, and urgent needs
  • Document comprehensive medical and contextual information accurately and confidentially
  • Provide evidence-based clinical advice to clients, employers, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with treating physicians and healthcare providers to validate treatment plans and assess care settings
  • Determine the need for medical evacuation or repatriation
  • Serve as clinical liaison between patients, International SOS Assistance Centers, and medical providers
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases to the duty Medical Lead
  • Monitor and communicate case progression and outcomes
  • Evaluate and coordinate medical evacuations, repatriations, and transfers
  • Determine appropriate transportation methods based on patient condition, urgency, and policy guidelines
  • Facilitate referrals to qualified healthcare providers and facilities
  • Evaluate new healthcare providers for network inclusion
  • Use the SPIN system and regional medical resources to guide clients to appropriate care
  • Adhere to work rosters, corporate values, policies, and workplace safety standards
  • Participate in Occupational Health & Safety programs, organizational projects, and special assignments
  • Maintain workload and availability communication with supervisors
  • Ensure accurate and timely clinical decisions, documentation, and shift handovers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive clinical experience in acute care settings such as intensive care units (ICU), emergency departments, or critical care environments
  • Proven background in medical assistance services or healthcare coordination highly preferred
  • Experience in public health or travel medicine advantageous but not mandatory
  • Current registration as a General Nurse with a recognized nursing regulatory authority in the home country
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken
  • Proficiency in additional languages desirable
  • Broad medical knowledge
  • Good computer skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional clinical judgment and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in clinical documentation systems and case management tools
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize caseloads

  • Flexibility for shift work, published work schedules, and 24/7 assistance operations
