About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Procure products within assigned planner codes and commodity areas in a timely and cost-effective manner
Maintain, build, and develop supplier relationships
Identify and reduce long lead times using material strategies with suppliers
Review daily MRP exception messages, purchase order status, and order action reports, taking appropriate action
Resolve material price variances
Identify alternate solutions for obsolete components and work with engineering for approval
Ensure timely delivery of products to support production needs
Maintain current purchasing data in the computer system
Develop new, better, or alternate sources of supply to reduce the supplier base
Negotiate best prices and best value with suppliers using technical requirements and market conditions
Administer purchase agreements involving confidential and proprietary information
Perform material quotations for prices and delivery
Conduct quarterly business reviews with key suppliers as required
Participate in production meetings to review supplier requirements
Evaluate and provide supplier performance data, including quality and on-time delivery
Provide training and guidance to new and lower-level buyers

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in related field
Minimum 7 years of progressive relevant job experience
Previous experience in an electronics manufacturing environment required
Intermediate knowledge of the laws of purchasing
Intermediate MRP skills
Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong math and computational skills
Ability to communicate effectively in all forms with others inside and outside the organization
Ability to negotiate professionally
Ability to solve problems involving multiple variables and limited standardization
Ability to multitask effectively and adapt within a rapidly changing environment
Export-controlled technology status verification may be required for access authorization under U.S. EAR or ITAR regulations
