About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and run Intrinsic's commercial infrastructure as the firm's first dedicated commercial leader
  • Expand the firm's pipeline and deepen relationships with private equity and investment banking communities
  • Develop and maintain target account lists across private equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and investment banking intermediaries
  • Build and execute referral-source strategies across the PE and M&A ecosystem
  • Develop strategic relationships with investment bankers, capital providers, and other intermediaries
  • Track opportunity movement through the funnel and maintain a real-time view of pipeline health
  • Own Salesforce as the system of record for pipeline reporting, relationship mapping, referral tracking, win/loss analysis, forecasting, and trip planning
  • Deliver regular pipeline reporting to firm leadership
  • Coach Managing Directors, Senior Directors, and Directors on business development relationships
  • Support pitch preparation and proposal development
  • Develop sales and relationship management playbooks
  • Participate in pricing conversations and support engagement structuring and value communication
  • Oversee the firm's website and LinkedIn presence
  • Coordinate thought leadership initiatives
  • Manage conference and event participation
  • Develop referral appreciation and client campaigns
  • Oversee deal announcements and milestone communications

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, or senior commercial development at an advisory or professional services firm
  • Meaningful exposure to the middle-market private equity deal ecosystem
  • Demonstrated track record of building and converting relationships with private equity sponsors, investment bankers, or deal intermediaries into tangible business outcomes
  • Understanding of referral-driven businesses in advisory environments, including long sales cycles and trust-building dynamics
  • Familiarity with transaction advisory, valuation, and financial and accounting advisory work in PE-backed transactions and portfolio company operations
  • Experience owning or influencing CRM systems; Salesforce preferred
  • Active participation in market development through events, calls, relationship development, and opening doors
  • Ability to coach others using practical, experience-based guidance
  • Comfort with long sales cycles and relationship-led revenue
  • Creativity and adaptability in building a commercial function for a boutique advisory firm
  • Executive presence and credibility with PE partners and CFOs
  • Preferred backgrounds include investment banking, PE operating executive or operating partner roles, or advisory leadership in TAS, CFO advisory, or management consulting
