About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide leadership to county Extension councils to meet legal obligations and carry out Extension District responsibilities
  • Supervise county staff according to the Memorandum of Understanding between the council and the University
  • Oversee program delivery addressing the region’s programmatic needs
  • Initiate strategies for fiscal management, grant and contract management, human resources, program needs assessment, and oversight
  • Develop and oversee volunteer networks and identify innovative ways to reach underserved and underrepresented audiences
  • Ensure compliance with civil rights requirements
  • Identify regional needs and collaborate with Extension Program Specialists to determine programmatic responses
  • Coordinate future program direction, interdisciplinary programming, resource development, and reporting of program outcomes
  • Administer resources and oversee completion of system reports for the region
  • Establish, organize, and facilitate regional networks and coalitions to build community capacity
  • Participate in regional or multi-state partnerships or programs
  • Serve Benton, Jones, and Cedar counties in Region 11
  • Travel across multiple counties as required

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
  • Immigration sponsorship is not available
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide variety of individuals and groups
  • Ability to establish partnerships with community leaders
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and leadership skills
  • Preferred: experience with financial resource development, including creation, development, and establishing of budgets
  • Preferred: experience with networking and partnership development leading to educational programs
  • Preferred: experience with staff and volunteer supervision, hiring, performance management, and other human resource functions
  • Preferred: experience with contract and grant writing
  • Preferred: experience in an educational area or field
  • Preferred: experience working cooperatively with an elected board
  • Preferred: experience with development and strategic implementation of policies and procedures
