About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide general legal advice to Ipsen affiliates across the European Mid-Sized Markets region
- Support the EMM Legal Director across direct-presence affiliates and partner markets
- Advise Marketing & Sales, Medical, Market Access, Supply Chain and Customer Strategy teams
- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical law across medicine launch, supply, distribution, sale, promotion, research and derogatory access activities
- Provide first-line legal support for operational and cross-functional projects
- Conduct preliminary legal assessments and prepare summaries for the EMM Legal Director
- Support innovative digital projects and partnerships involving pharmaceutical regulations, benefits and transparency frameworks, GDPR, medical confidentiality, intellectual property, competition and commercial law
- Review key contractual provisions and escalate relevant issues
- Draft, review and validate contracts and amendments with healthcare professionals, healthcare organisations and patient organisations
- Validate commercial policies, terms and conditions, single agreements and related documents
- Maintain forms, template agreements and local contract manuals
- Provide internal training and guidance on contracts, legal matters and data privacy
- Support contract database efficiency and scalability
- Draft, review and negotiate confidentiality, consulting, service and other pharmaceutical-company agreements
- Act as first point of contact for routine questions on templates, policies and procedures
- Monitor and analyse healthcare laws, regulations and enforcement activity
- Incorporate legal developments into education, messaging and policy-development efforts
- Flag high-risk areas and raise awareness of legal changes affecting projects and operations
- Ensure contractual relationships comply with local laws, regulations, industry standards and corporate codes and policies
- Conduct first-level legal research and prepare concise briefings
- Collaborate with Group Legal, Business Ethics & Compliance and Intellectual Property functions
- Assist with International Legal and Group Legal projects and guidance updates
- Participate in International Legal Team meetings
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified lawyer with EU or international legal experience
- 3 to 7 years of post-qualification experience, excluding traineeships and internships, gained within a Life Sciences team in a law firm or in-house within the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating and completing various types of contracts, especially commercial contracts in the Life Sciences industry across multiple geographies and jurisdictions
- Previous in-house experience or equivalent private-practice experience advising Life Sciences companies
- Master’s degree in law
- Qualification to practise as a lawyer
- Good knowledge of GDPR preferred
- English is essential
- French would be an advantage
- Ability to support a complex multi-country regional perimeter and adapt legal advice to diverse legal, regulatory and business environments
- Strong contract drafting, review and negotiation skills
- Strong business acumen
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
