About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build long-term relationships with multiple customer accounts and serve as the primary point of contact throughout jobs
  • Identify new customers and opportunities through networking and prospecting
  • Develop customer relationships and secure a pipeline of repeat business
  • Develop sales strategies for target customers and bid strategies for target jobs
  • Solicit bid packages, procure drawings and specifications, and interpret specifications
  • Perform material take-offs from construction drawings or job walks
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and prepare cost estimates using estimating software such as MIKE or Navisworks
  • Solicit material and subcontract pricing from vendors
  • Prepare and submit proposals, contract documents, exception letters, and project schedules
  • Negotiate contract language and ensure signed contracts comply with company policy
  • Prepare preconstruction documentation and attend preconstruction meetings
  • Formulate job control setup and cost codes with the Construction Manager
  • Manage project schedules, labor productivity, material costs, margins, and profitability
  • Perform job control functions, including reverse takeoffs and entering data into E1
  • Prepare material and application submittals
  • Manage change orders and mitigate potential construction claims
  • Maintain regular communication with customer points of contact
  • Prepare or oversee accurate invoices and timely collection of receivables
  • Follow environmental health and safety best practices and participate in the Continuous Improvement Process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent, required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent management experience in construction or the military, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with estimating / construction management; required number of years varies by field office
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, estimating software, and other relevant software tools
  • Able to interpret drawings, architectural/mechanical plans, and flow diagrams
  • Able to collaborate effectively with different personality types
  • Self-motivated and able to plan and prioritize work tasks
  • Good at problem-solving and making decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Frequent travel within the assigned territory
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required
