About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work closely with the ITT Cannon Sales team and customer engineers to recommend products and technical solutions for new design applications
  • Identify system design requirements and unmet technical challenges
  • Lead solution development to meet customer needs
  • Lead technical identification and product development from concept through production
  • Coordinate with sales, product management, engineering, and operations
  • Provide design solutions, models, technical proposals, and prototypes
  • Act as the lead engineering point of contact with customers to secure new designs
  • Provide product and technical solution capability presentations
  • Conduct technical product training for customer engineers
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between customer engineering and internal cross-functional teams
  • Manage and coordinate activities related to Sales, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations
  • Build relationships with customer technical communities and identify requirements for new designs
  • Understand technical market trends and identify product expansion opportunities
  • Capture Voice of Customer
  • Develop and present technical solutions to secure new design wins
  • Understand customer applications and requirements to recommend appropriate solutions
  • Provide on-site support to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Collaborate with product design engineering to develop custom solutions based on customer feedback
  • Report to the New Product Development Engineering Manager and the Director of Product Management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 10+ years of connector design engineering experience in lieu of degree
  • 5+ years of related industry experience in connector design
  • 5+ years of experience in a field application, product management, or technical sales role within the connector industry
  • Strong understanding of connector, cable and system design and manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to directly manage customer engagements
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Demonstrated leadership skills working across functional departments
  • Organizational skills to meet strategic objectives
  • Experience using CAD in both 2D and 3D modeling
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to travel periodically, up to 40%
  • Visibility to export-controlled documents and information
  • Preferred: Experience in harsh environment circular connectors, electrical cabling, high power or high-speed data transfer
  • Preferred: Knowledge of high-performance thermoplastics, metal alloys, and related manufacturing requirements
  • Preferred: CREO Parametric 3D Modeling/Documentation experience
