About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build new data pipelines, data products and real-time capabilities
Build and maintain high-throughput streaming and batch pipelines on Dataflow and BigQuery
Use Python for orchestration and tooling and Go for low-latency viewer-facing services
Deploy and manage services using Terraform infrastructure-as-code
Write unit, integration and load tests
Set up metrics, alerting, logging and monitoring dashboards using Terraform, Grafana and Prometheus
Implement and manage fine-grained access through GCP IAM
Maintain platform stability and performance
Participate in the team support and on-call rota
Triage support issues and bugs, prioritising work alongside planned engineering tasks
Collaborate with Product Managers and stakeholders across Personalisation, Marketing, Commercial and Finance to refine requirements into technical tasks
Improve validation tools and contribute reusable components to the team’s tool chest

Requirements

What you’ll need

Hands-on experience with GCP, including Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Dataflow, Composer/Airflow, Cloud Functions, GKE and Cloud Build, or equivalent experience on another cloud with willingness to learn GCP
Strong SQL
Proficient in at least one of Python, Java or Go, with willingness to learn the others
Experience with streaming data
Experience with SQL-based transformation tooling
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Good knowledge of Terraform
Experience deploying containerised services
Ability to work within complex architectures involving event-driven streaming and multi-project environments
Comfortable participating in daily standups, sprint planning and retrospectives in a mature Agile environment
Able to work in a matrix organisation and distributed team
Willingness to learn and use AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Gemini ADK and Vertex AI agents
