About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Implement Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and use Common Platform functions
Prioritise Core Platform work for upgrades and business delivery
Support engineers with deployment and production issues
Review and approve pull requests for new infrastructure, permission changes and access
Maintain and support Core Platform infrastructure, including Grafana and self-hosted GitHub Action runners
Manage Kubernetes deployment upgrades in AWS
Define and design infrastructure for new applications and existing application redesigns
Share best practices across the Common Platform team
Communicate platform changes through presentations, training workshops and coaching sessions
Line manage more junior team members
Contribute ideas, improvements and designs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Knowledge and proven experience of secure cloud practices and building highly performant and scalable cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS
Knowledge and proven experience of Infrastructure as Code technologies, ideally Terraform, and version control strategies
Knowledge and proven experience of containerisation and deploying container workloads, ideally on Kubernetes
Knowledge and proven experience with Continuous Delivery / Continuous Integration patterns and platforms such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions
Knowledge and proven experience with monitoring and alerting tools
Knowledge and proven experience responding to production incidents and diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues
Knowledge and proven experience in cloud cost optimisation and balancing it with resilient infrastructure needs
In-depth knowledge of Linux, including CentOS and Amazon Linux 2
Knowledge and experience working within an Agile delivery methodology
Strong communication skills and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback, particularly in pull request reviews
Ability to build relationships with multiple teams
Able to travel to London once a month
Experience and knowledge of Kubernetes management tools such as Helm
Experience with mentoring, coaching or line management
Minimum criteria must be met for Disability Confident guaranteed progression
