About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Install basic mechanical commercial food equipment and assist with advanced installations
- Maintain, diagnose, and repair basic mechanical commercial food equipment for contract and time-and-material customers
- Complete and document preventative maintenance
- Implement and support Hobart Service safety procedures and programs
- Provide a quality customer experience while supporting branch and organizational financial objectives
- Maintain current organization, industry, and equipment knowledge
- Manage assigned company assets, including vehicle, tools, and inventory
- Follow safe-driving and other applicable company policies
- Read service manuals and mechanical diagrams, identify parts, and follow workflow processes
- Identify and promote equipment, contract, and water-treatment sales/lead opportunities
- Perform visual safety inspections of vehicles and equipment and report defects
- Complete assigned work accurately and within established timeframes
- Provide on-site customer support, including on-call, after-hours, holiday, and weekend repair support
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- 0–2 years of electrical/mechanical experience
- Fundamental mechanical and/or electrical aptitude
- Troubleshooting experience
- Ability to read and interpret standard service manuals and mechanical diagrams
- Basic math skills, including percentages and measurement conversions
- Basic knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel
- Ability to read and understand safety guidelines
- Ability to communicate orally with individuals within and outside the organization
- Crisis/conflict resolution skills
- Ability to self-motivate and take direction from senior technicians and management
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs with or without assistance
- Ability to climb up to 10 ft with an A-frame ladder; occasional access via ladders over 20 ft
- Ability to kneel, squat, bend, push/pull, and work in tight or confined spaces
- Ability to operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, machinery, and/or power tools
- Ability to complete required safety training
- Willingness to work normal business hours plus occasional/frequent/extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
- Certificates and licenses are position/location dependent
- Associate degree or vocational certificate preferred (not required)
- Commercial cooking/refrigeration equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair experience preferred
