About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Report to the Managing Director and lead the supply chain for Pet Drugs Online
- Provide one clear view of demand, supply, stock and risk
- Own the sales and operations planning (S&OP) process
- Lead three managers covering planning, stock, carriers and third-party logistics partners
- Run the monthly S&OP cycle from demand review through the executive decision meeting
- Chair weekly reviews to keep the plan on track
- Build and monitor demand forecasts by product, category and time horizon
- Convert demand plans into supply, purchasing, stock and warehouse capacity plans
- Set stock policies covering service levels, safety stock, reorder points and order quantities
- Maintain accountability for stock accuracy and availability, including counts, batch and expiry control, adjustments and root-cause resolution
- Manage supplier performance and commercial relationships with carriers and 3PL partners
- Work with Commercial on ranges and promotions, Finance on budgets and working capital, and Goods In and Warehouse Operations on inbound deliveries
- Build team capability, succession planning and reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Senior supply chain leadership experience, including direct ownership of S&OP, demand and supply planning, purchasing and inventory in a business with a large, varied product range
- Deep practical knowledge of forecast accuracy and bias, inventory segmentation, safety stock, reorder logic, supplier lead times, service levels and working capital
- Strong commercial and financial judgement
- Confidence chairing decision meetings with Commercial, Operations and Finance
- Highly numerate approach
- Pragmatic approach to tightening controls before perfect technology is in place
- Calm, credible style and willingness to raise uncomfortable facts early
- Commitment to supporting the organisation's purpose and values
