About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Learn to manage a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends
  • Ensure safe and timely movement of freight, load assignment, and best-in-class customer service
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company regulations
  • Build and maintain relationships with drivers and outside carriers
  • Fill in for absent personnel and support fleet-optimization and profitability projects
  • Learn personnel management, including driver and employee training and orientation
  • Improve fleet efficiency and profitability; measure KPIs and prepare customer reporting and financial analysis
  • Manage inventory, assets, customer pools, and driver assignments to balance equipment
  • Perform payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, filing, pay issue resolution, P&L analysis, invoicing, and operational or financial reporting
  • Manage the yard, inspect equipment, replace parts, complete repairs, and coordinate preventative maintenance and safety repairs
  • Resolve service, routing, planning, mechanical, and accessorial-pay issues with drivers, customers, and company personnel
  • Maintain the company's safety culture through safety messages, briefings, training, reviews, and policy enforcement
  • Assign, plan, route, and monitor freight, manage exceptions, and adjust driver ETAs to meet customer requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
  • Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
  • Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment
  • This position is not eligible for employment-based sponsorship
  • Preferred: Experience managing a team
  • Preferred: Ability to anticipate, recognize, and deal effectively with existing or potential conflicts
