About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of Jack.org’s financial records
  • Provide timely financial analysis and insights to organizational stakeholders
  • Build and update monthly and quarterly financial performance reports and forecasts
  • Prepare statement of operations analyses across financial periods, programs, departments, and budget-to-actuals
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare variance analyses and management reports
  • Maintain live revenue dashboards and highlight deviations
  • Reconcile donor data between the financial system and CRM
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to translate program financial impacts
  • Ensure completeness and timeliness of financial records and reports in compliance with regulations and accounting standards
  • Account for grant awards and collaborate with Programs and Development on grant expenditure priorities
  • Review bank and account reconciliations prepared by the Finance Coordinator
  • Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit card, banking, and donation accounts
  • Prepare month-end journal entries and close the general ledger monthly
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation and act as main point of contact for external auditors and the finance team
  • Coordinate the annual budget process
  • Assist with budgets and financial reports for grant applications and reporting
  • Support cash flow management, forecasting, and financial KPI monitoring
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations for decision-making
  • Support HST, payroll, and tax compliance reporting
  • Help formulate and amend internal controls
  • Support Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee meeting materials
  • Train non-finance staff on financial procedures, transaction coding, timely data submissions, and accounting practices
  • Assist with implementing business practices and maintaining financial software systems
  • Provide backup support to senior management during temporary short-term absences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working in the non-profit sector is an asset
  • Knowledge of financial systems such as NetSuite
  • Familiarity with CRMs like Salesforce
  • Advanced Excel and BI tools experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Collaborative approach to responsibilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy under pressure
  • Attention to detail, organization, and efficiency in a data-driven approach
  • At least 3–5 years of finance experience, including hands-on exposure to accounting operations
  • Understanding of accounting standards through education or experience
  • Understanding of Canadian HST and charity regulations is a strong asset
  • Creativity and flexibility in finding solutions while upholding accounting standards
  • High degree of integrity, confidentiality, professionalism, and commitment to due diligence
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Professional designation (CPA) or working towards it preferred
  • Must submit a cover letter and resume in PDF format preferred
