About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead Jaja’s New Business Originations strategy and a small team of analysts
  • Optimise credit risk strategies for acquisition of new customers, balancing risk and reward within business risk appetite
  • Lead strategy changes from analysis and recommendation through governance, implementation, validation and post-implementation monitoring
  • Lead, coach and develop a small team of analysts, setting priorities and assuring analytical delivery quality
  • Use SQL and Python to manipulate and analyse data
  • Promote a test-and-learn approach and challenge existing strategies and processes
  • Provide data-based insights and recommendations for new-customer decision strategies, including initial credit limits, policy rules and promotional offers
  • Analyse origination vintage performance trends to ensure sustainable new lending
  • Collaborate with Tech, DataOps, Commercial Finance, Customer Service and Compliance stakeholders
  • Maintain governance and controls through documentation, approvals, implementation testing, monitoring and escalation of unexpected outcomes or control weaknesses

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A degree in a quantitative field like Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical role, ideally in unsecured credit risk / credit cards
  • Extensive experience using SQL to extract and manipulate data; Python is a plus
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage time effectively
  • Ability to interact and work alongside key stakeholders at all levels across the business with attention to expectation management
  • Experience clearly communicating complex analytical insights in a simple manner to diverse technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience managing analysts
  • Comfortable using direct, straightforward and respectful language
  • Customer-focused interest in improving consumer finance
  • Execution-focused, hands-on, proactive and process-oriented approach
  • Self-motivated ability to work independently and collaboratively
