About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and implement scalable systems serving millions of borrowers and financial partners
- Contribute to architecture and roadmap planning and influence core project direction
- Lead by example through engineering excellence, best practices, and high code quality
- Mentor junior engineers and grow team skills and capabilities
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and Operations to deliver meaningful solutions
- Propose and iterate on organization-wide engineering processes with senior leaders
- Help shape January’s platform across Consumer Conversion, Consumer Voice, or Compliance & Money Ops teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong technical expertise; experience with Python, React, Postgres, and AWS, with willingness to teach diverse backgrounds
- Experience building and maintaining production-grade systems at scale
- Product-oriented mindset focused on user and business impact
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must be available to work at least three days a week in the New York City or San Francisco office
