About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and oversee all maintenance operations within the facility
  • Ensure equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with safety and food safety standards
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to unionized maintenance employees
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance programs
  • Coordinate employee scheduling, performance management, attendance tracking, disciplinary processes, and performance evaluations
  • Manage departmental budgets and control maintenance-related costs
  • Foster a strong culture of health and safety
  • Operate in accordance with CFIA, Health Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada policies, HACCP requirements, and applicable standards
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards in the maintenance department
  • Work closely with production teams to support quality, customer service, and operational goals
  • Support continuous improvement, equipment performance, and overall business success
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma, and/or possession of Journeyman certification in a related field
  • More than 5+ years of progressive related engineering, maintenance and management experience
  • Experience within the manufacturing sector, particularly within the food or meat processing sector
  • Management experience, preferably within a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, labour relations, conflict resolution and communication
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • Use of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and project management software
