About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Combine multiple data sources and add clear business meaning to make data AI-ready
  • Build semantic views, governed metrics, and context layers on Snowflake
  • Build and maintain business context including terms, glossaries, metric definitions, rules, and hierarchies
  • Design, build, validate, and publish governed Snowflake semantic views and a versioned metric registry
  • Build canonical master datasets such as master vehicle/VIN, dealer, and incentives datasets
  • Prepare PDFs, glossaries, FAQs, and data dictionaries for retrieval with Snowflake Cortex Search
  • Partner with AI engineers to connect semantic views, metrics, and search services to Cortex Analyst and Cortex Agents
  • Design, troubleshoot, and execute repeatable data pipelines on Snowflake and Google Cloud/BigQuery during the transition
  • Own pipeline reliability and data quality
  • Gather and understand data processing requirements with stakeholders
  • Contribute to new product development, features, and net-new products or approaches
  • Lead end-to-end data engineering projects
  • Mentor and guide junior data engineers
  • Collaborate across Customer Success, Product Management, Product Development, Technology/Architecture, Data Engineering, Data Science, AI Engineering, and Data Visualization teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong, hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Proven production experience designing, building, and running ETL/ELT pipelines from multiple data sources
  • Experience owning pipeline robustness and output data quality, including idempotent jobs, monitoring and alerting, and automated data quality checks
  • Software engineering background or experience is a plus, including Git, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and modular reusable code
  • Hands-on Snowflake experience strongly preferred, including Snowpark, Dynamic Tables, and role-based access control
  • Experience with semantic layers or governed metrics and dimensional modeling
  • Working knowledge of RAG, embeddings and vector search, context and prompt design, tool calling, AI agents, and MCP
  • Familiarity with ontologies, knowledge graphs, data catalogs, metadata management, and data governance
  • Familiarity with AI coding assistants and hands-on daily development use
  • Ability to resolve data issues creatively and effectively
  • Independent professional able to implement a vision with limited instruction
  • Bachelor’s degree required; background in statistics, machine learning, computer science, finance, engineering, or mathematics preferred
  • At least 5 years of full-time professional experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years with a Graduate degree in data engineering and quantitative analytics
  • Effective written and verbal cross-functional communication
  • Ability and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
