About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Mentor, train, and lead day-to-day operations for Medical Assistants
  • Serve as a resource to Medical Assistants and assist with direction of daily operations
  • Assist with and provide input into performance evaluations of standard Medical Assistants
  • Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification
  • Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information
  • Use and document information technology systems within the established scope of practice
  • Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures
  • Perform EKGs, venipuncture, and injections as applicable
  • Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements
  • Order clinical supplies and maintain inventory
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required
  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures
  • Knowledge of customer communication practices, tools, and techniques
  • Knowledge of common healthcare equipment and ability to use it in patient care
  • Knowledge of health information documentation methods
  • Ability to read and interpret patient charts
  • Clinical skills including history taking, therapeutic planning, and monitoring
  • Knowledge of factors contributing to quality patient care
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) from the American Heart Association within 90 days
  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • Ability to lift and carry 40–50 lbs.
  • Frequent to continuous standing and walking
  • Ability to perform role-specific activities including kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR
