About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist physicians as they assess, examine, and treat patients
- Manage patient flow
- Perform diagnostic procedures including EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vital signs
- Act as liaison to physicians to ensure patient satisfaction
- Maintain and order clinical supplies
- Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistently with Jefferson values
- Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification
- Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information
- Use and document information technology systems within the established scope of practice
- Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and venipuncture/injections
- Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements
- Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and smooth office operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Familiarity with medical office procedures
- HS Diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Experience in physician office or other healthcare setting preferred
- For NJ: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program including at least 330 hours of instruction and training in intramuscular and subcutaneous injections
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting/standing and keyboard use
- Patient care providers may need to kneel, bend, squat, and perform CPR
