About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead site environmental, health and safety initiatives
- Assist site leadership in establishing site-specific policies and standards
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and JELD-WEN Global EH&S requirements
- Prevent injuries and illnesses, reduce workers’ compensation costs, and strengthen the EH&S culture
- Identify workplace environmental, health and safety risks and hazards and implement prevention programs
- Advise site leaders and employees on minimizing risks and improving EH&S performance
- Assist with compliance with applicable environmental, health and safety requirements
- Train site employees and line managers on EH&S requirements, management systems, hazards and risk controls
- Implement JELD-WEN EH&S programs, policies, standards and management systems
- Conduct workplace environmental, health and safety inspections
- Manage emergency procedures, including fire alarm drills
- Report injuries, illnesses and near misses to corporate EH&S and business leaders
- Establish site-specific EH&S reports and communicate performance to site leadership
- Maintain EH&S records, including OSHA logs, environmental permits and testing, training documentation and equipment inspection records
- Track inspection and audit findings through closure
- Assist the plant manager with establishing and maintaining a site EH&S council
- Share EH&S lessons learned and encourage a learning culture
- Partner with site leaders to create, maintain and improve the safety environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Safety Engineering, Safety Sciences, Engineering or similar
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
- 7–10 years of environmental, health and safety experience in a global manufacturing organization
- Experience implementing EH&S Management Systems, such as ISO 14001, ANSI Z-10, or ISO 45001
- Significant knowledge of U.S. Environmental, Safety & Health laws, including OSHA and EPA, required
- Experience using web-based EH&S systems, such as Process Map, Enablon, Gen-Suite, or similar
- Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Access, Minitab, PowerPoint and Visio, required
- Strong communication, presentation, training, facilitation and project management skills
- Proficiency in LEAN and Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Process safety management experience desired
- Exemplary customer service skills and attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Suite skills, including Excel, PowerPoint and Access databases
- Strong analytical skills to analyze safety and health data
- Up to 10% overnight travel required
