About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the Plant Manager with day-to-day maintenance activities for the building, facility, production equipment, and machinery
- Supervise and coordinate employees repairing and maintaining facility and production equipment
- Prepare work schedules, assign work, and oversee work products while minimizing overtime
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for machinery, equipment, buildings, and grounds
- Track maintenance downtime
- Work with Continuous Improvement Managers and teams where applicable
- Arrange, coordinate, and manage third-party contractor support
- Collaborate with Plant Manager, Engineering, and Logistics personnel
- Prepare maintenance budgets and obtain estimates and cost quotes
- Monitor technological changes related to KPI measures and maintain records for local, state, and federal mandates and inspections
- Enforce safety and housekeeping practices, including hazardous waste disposal programs
- Participate on internal plant Safety Teams
- Prepare maintenance reports and make recommendations to management
- Maintain, replace, and recommend adjustments to plant facilities and equipment in accordance with SQDCI, TPS, and Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Train new and existing employees as directed by the Plant Manager
- Conduct subordinate performance evaluations and recommend salary adjustments when applicable
- Assist with new-hire selection, employee coaching, and disciplinary matters
- Perform other duties as directed by plant supervisory personnel
Requirements
What you’ll need- College degree in a related field desired
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry
- Equivalent combination of education/trade schooling, certifications, and experience may be substituted for a college degree at management’s discretion
- One (1) to three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred
- Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical, machine repair and maintenance, plant layout, safety, painting, and janitorial work
- Familiarity with associated hand and power tools
- Strong knowledge of plant/OSHA health and safety standards and compliance
- Fundamental understanding of applicable governmental regulations
- Solid understanding of buildings and grounds security protocols
- Advanced knowledge of maintenance programs related to plant and corporate KPIs, including SQDCI, TPS, and Continuous Improvement activities
- Fundamental understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts
- Basic knowledge of human resource principles and practices
- Knowledge of door and window production machines, tools, and maintenance
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Technical, leadership, teamwork, decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and work effectively as part of plant teams
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and applicable JELD-WEN software applications
- Ability to travel locally during the business day and occasionally attend seminars and training
