About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Inspect operating equipment by looking, listening, and feeling for changes from normal operation
- Assist Millwrights and Operators with mechanical repairs of machines and equipment
- Organize and maintain inventory of oils, greases, and lubricants; report shortages
- Apply appropriate lubricants as needed
- Maintain and safely use tools and equipment required for maintenance
- Operate forklifts and other rolling stock
- Perform maintenance and repair work on line equipment, motors, gearboxes, scissor lifts, tipple unloaders, die tables, drive chains, drive couplers, steam, hydraulic, electrical, and other plant equipment
- Maintain high-quality work and clean lubricant containers
- Maintain housekeeping standards, clear walkways, clean spills, and properly dispose of oily rags
- Report concerns or deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager
- Collaborate with coworkers and production employees to troubleshoot and maintain equipment
- Maintain a steady pace and consistent production on each shift
- Keep safety at the forefront and the plant in top operating condition
- Disable and report unsafe or damaged tools
- Perform other duties assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to inspect and understand equipment operation
- Ability to assist Millwrights and Operators with mechanical repairs of machines and equipment
- Knowledge of different types of lubricants and their applications
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks safely and skillfully using required tools and equipment
- Ability to operate a forklift and other rolling stock safely and efficiently
- Ability to perform extended periods of walking, standing, and use of steps and ladders
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Approval for use of a full face respirator
- Compliance with safety training and PPE requirements
- Ability to follow lockout requirements and applicable safety procedures
- Ability to work with or around mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, steam, welding, radiation, and elevated-work hazards
- Must not perform tasks without proper training; must seek manager assistance when needed
