About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Directly manage the fabrication and machining shop
Implement safety programs
Lead personnel training, mentoring, and evaluations
Order materials
Coordinate, plan, and schedule the Engineering fabrication facility
Schedule and assign employees and follow up on work results
Ensure deliverables meet customer schedule and quality expectations
Maintain fabrication and machining shop equipment
Incorporate Risk Management safety programs and resolve shop safety concerns
Manage processes and resources to meet project demands
Keep projects on time and within budget
Investigate new technology
Perform engineering economics and capital equipment justification
Participate in project reviews and Engineering Reliability meetings
Review and approve employee vacation requests
Ensure compliance with JELD-WEN policies and procedures
Manage and allocate fabrication and machining resources to projects
Maintain communication between Engineers, Designers, and Purchasing
Review project and work order reports with Directors and Vice President of Engineering
Review project estimates and approve shop personnel overtime
Review shop schedules for on-time completion
Manage the shop 5S program
Oversee first aid and CPR requirements
Greet and lay out the crew before shift

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years related work experience
Management experience
Fluent in Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to present technical information to Engineering employees and Leadership team
Ability to provide redline drawing feedback from the shop to engineers
Ability to complete projects and work orders on time and within budget
