About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate fiber department equipment safely and efficiently
- Monitor fiber department operations and parameters and resolve irregularities to maximize runtime
- Perform die work, blade changes, cleanup, and preventive maintenance tasks
- Perform hourly checks and document results
- Conduct and interpret quality tests and participate in SQDCI
- Apply grading specifications to operational decisions, including cosmetic inspections and weight/thickness checks
- Maintain housekeeping throughout the fiberline and return tools and equipment to designated areas
- Communicate with fiberline operators and personnel across shifts regarding skin quality, process conditions, adjustments, and changes
- Notify management of supply issues, maintenance needs, hazards, and accidents/injuries
- Maintain complete and accurate written and electronic records and data
- Inspect equipment for wear or malfunction and notify operators, maintenance, and management
- Learn and cover Fiberline Operator, Fiber Trainee, and Quality Tech duties as needed
- Operate forklifts and other equipment
- Perform other duties assigned by management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Operate production equipment safely and efficiently
- Use proper start-up, operational, and shutdown procedures
- Perform and interpret assigned quality tests/data
- Understand grading specifications, cosmetic inspections, and weight/thickness program
- Familiarity with equipment components, sub-systems, support systems, and terminology
- Know and understand all Fiberline Operator duties
- Learn other department jobs for short-period coverage
- Operate a forklift and other equipment as necessary
- Maintain required tools for use on the job
- Wear required PPE, including eye and hearing protection, gloves when handling hot skins, and fall protection where specified
- Be approved for full-face respirator use when required
- Complete required safety training, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Ergonomics, Forklift, PPE, Emergency Preparedness, Hazard Communication, Electrical Safety, and Blood-borne Pathogen Prevention
- Do not perform unfamiliar or untrained work; follow lockout training
- Overtime may be required
- Abide by all company policies and procedures
