About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and implement production operations and shop-floor activities under the direction of the Production Manager
  • Lead production activities and support plant operations, goals, and objectives
  • Provide direct leadership to Lead employees and subordinates in assigned production areas
  • Act as liaison between upper management and hourly employees, providing timely feedback
  • Supervise production and production-support operations
  • Drive SQDCI and Continuous Improvement activities and initiatives
  • Develop and manage team members’ performance and capabilities based on KPIs
  • Ensure equipment, facilities, and personnel are operated and maintained consistently with plant goals
  • Assist with monitoring plant production and quality-control performance
  • Maintain facilities and equipment and recommend adjustments in conjunction with CI initiatives
  • Provide leadership and training to achieve plant and company goals
  • Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety-awareness programs and investigating safety issues
  • Assist with staff performance evaluations and proactive personnel actions
  • Perform other duties as directed by plant management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in a related field and 1–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Some related college work and 5–7 years of applicable work experience
  • 7–10 years of applicable work experience in the window and door industry
  • Fundamental knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing improvement techniques, including SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement methodologies
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout the production process
  • Ability to coach and develop work teams and provide training on CI methods and initiatives
  • Ability to motivate and empower others, resolve conflict, and understand management principles and concepts
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, corporate goals and objectives, and KPIs
  • Flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities daily
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other applicable software
  • Ability to travel locally during the business day and occasionally attend seminars and training
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge of door and window production machines and tools preferred
  • Knowledge of raw materials, preferably for door and window applications preferred
