About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, research, and cultivate a portfolio of prospective major donors, focusing on new relationships not yet connected to the Federation
- Partner with lay leaders, board members, and senior staff to leverage networks for pipeline growth
- Develop and execute strategies to move prospects from first engagement to first gift and beyond
- Manage an active portfolio of approximately 150 major donor relationships, including donors and prospects
- Own and deliver against an annual fundraising target tied to organizational priorities
- Track progress against fundraising goals and adjust strategy to close gaps
- Drive net new donor-advised fund assets by identifying and closing new fund openings
- Track engagement and pipeline progress in Salesforce
- Collaborate with philanthropy and community impact teams to develop compelling cases for support and donor materials
- Represent the Federation at events, gatherings, and community settings to identify and cultivate new major donor prospects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience with endowment giving, planned gifts, or donor-advised funds strongly preferred
- Natural relationship builder and “people person” energized by meeting new people and connecting their values to compelling opportunities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort with ambitious goals and patience to build toward them
- Deep familiarity with the Bay Area philanthropic landscape a plus
- Familiarity with the Jewish community a plus but not required
- Proficiency with Salesforce or comparable CRM
- 7+ years of major gifts fundraising experience
- Proven track record of closing major gifts of $25,000 or more
