About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collect, review, and analyze financial data

  • Monitor service and productivity, assess efficiency, and implement improvements
  • Verify documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies
  • Analyze budget patterns and project expenditures
  • Assimilate information from various sources for departmental staff
  • Define problems, collect data, and establish facts
  • Interpret technical and detailed guidelines, policies, and procedures
  • Analyze feasibility and potential impact of new initiatives and process improvements
  • Upload data regularly to the financial management system
  • Implement quality control and business-process improvements
  • Use spreadsheets, relational databases, cost-accounting systems, statistical packages, and graphics packages to assemble and format data and reports
  • Prepare and distribute regular and ad hoc departmental financial reports
  • Compile, review, and maintain audit backup documentation
  • Support donor financial reporting by assembling and validating financial data and ensuring accurate, complete, timely submissions
  • Answer finance-related questions and assist divisions with financial tasks
  • Interpret financial policies and procedures
  • Train finance staff on monthly financial reporting and annual budgeting
  • Communicate with internal and external administrative offices to ensure procedures are followed
  • Apply knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Process sponsor invoices for payment according to contract terms
  • Manage confidential correspondence and information, escalating issues when appropriate

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with 3 years of relevant experience
  • SAP experience
  • Budgeting and forecasting software experience
  • Experience working with international offices and contacts
  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Expertise in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications
  • Hands-on experience with statistical analysis and statistical packages
  • Outstanding presentation, reporting, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of financial forecasting and diagnosis, corporate finance, and information analysis
  • Knowledge of current financial subjects, accounting, tax laws, money market, and business environments
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret organizational policies with clarity
  • Ability to work as a team player and foster relationships
  • Ability to proactively contribute during peak periods
  • French or Spanish speaker – an advantage
  • Successful candidate subject to a pre-employment background check
