About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Drive accounting projects that improve the Finance function
  • Serve as the go-to resource for new or complex transactions, including revenue recognition (ASC 606), leases (ASC 842), stock compensation (ASC 718), business combinations, and capitalized software
  • Lead controls mapping by connecting risks to controls, documenting processes, and identifying gaps
  • Apply working knowledge of month-end and year-end close to map controls and redesign processes
  • Collaborate across Finance and other departments on cross-functional projects
  • Act as a resource for Finance-owned tools
  • Redesign accounting workflows using company-approved AI and automation tools
  • Apply professional judgement and human review to AI and automation outputs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • CPA designation
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • SEC reporting experience strongly preferred
  • Significant accounting experience, including time in public practice
  • Track record of technical accounting research and documentation of processes and controls
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Judgement to make decisions based on accurate, timely analysis
  • Project management ability to scope ambiguous work, sequence it, and drive it to completion independently
  • Coachability and adaptability
  • Ability to collaborate widely and champion best practices
  • Experience working with a SaaS company is an asset
  • Previous IPO, S-1/F-1, or public company experience is a plus
  • Experience using NetSuite is a plus
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Successful completion of a background check, including identity verification
  • Able to attend the office at least 1 day per week according to the department schedule
