About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a key representative of the project team, Customers, and Suppliers for project quality topics
  • Ensure completeness and contractual compliance of project quality documentation from order award through provisional equipment acceptance
  • Develop and issue Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Follow up Supplier quality documentation as part of the Energy Sector Supply Chain Process and QMS
  • Verify required tests were performed according to applicable standards and contracts
  • Attend or assist with pressure, functional, and performance tests at Supplier facilities when required
  • Review and comment on quality documentation for purchased commodities
  • Issue quality releases for equipment when the required project quality level is met
  • Analyze contractual quality specifications
  • Act as the project team's primary contact for quality aspects and represent John Cockerill's interests before Customers and Suppliers
  • Write quality specifications covering raw materials, fabrication procedures, and repair procedures
  • Participate in technical negotiations, Supplier kick-off meetings, and Customer kick-off meetings for quality aspects
  • Check Supplier quality documentation, including Quality Plans, WPS/PQR, NDT procedures, and NDT reports, through completion of the Manufacturing Data Book
  • Follow up inspection notifications and coordinate or participate in inspections with Customers and project management
  • Follow up Supplier non-conformities and action plans
  • Issue Quality Release reports
  • Coordinate with local workshop Quality Supervisors and Site Supervisors on quality issues
  • Ensure applicable equipment stamping certifications, including ASME stamps and CE marking
  • Coordinate Third Parties such as Authorized Inspectors and Notified Bodies
  • Prepare documentation for product regulation registration
  • Verify that code-, norm-, and directive-required documentation is reviewed by relevant Third Parties
  • Participate in qualification of new Suppliers and conduct technical risk assessments
  • Apply internal standards and good practices; promote and implement continuous improvement
  • Report directly to the Quality Manager

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10-15 years’ experience
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Welding Technology, Mechanical, Production, Metallurgy, Material, or a related engineering discipline
  • Certification from AWS / AM-IIW in Welding Technology
  • Availability for temporary missions, sometimes on short notice, including international travel
  • Team spirit, information sharing, collaboration, detailed focus, decision taking, rigorousness, results orientation, organization, schedule orientation, problem solving, assertiveness, and ability to work under pressure
  • Comfortable with international contacts and relationships
  • Analysis of contractual requirements against internal standards, mainly ASME, EN, and ISO codes
  • Understanding of international codes and norms
  • Understanding of international regulations, mainly the European Pressure Equipment Directive and ASME
  • Knowledge of steel material properties
  • Knowledge of welding processes
  • Knowledge of NDT (Non Destructive Testing)
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Application of internal technical choices
  • Understanding of professional environment and product/organization interfaces
  • Fluent in English (reading, speaking, listening)
  • Fluent French is a plus
