About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform electrical or electronic engineering assignments, often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, and techniques
- Support cutting-edge technologies and processes related to electrical and power electronics engineering
- Design, test, and maintain power electronics products and systems for Johnson Controls’ chiller applications
- Determine techniques, procedures, and theories for developing power electronics products and systems
- Create compliance procedures for electrical/electronic circuitry designs
- Define and interpret design specifications; design circuitry; analyze product requirements and recommend solutions
- Prepare and coordinate documentation release for component design and manufacturing
- Participate in preliminary design and systems architecture
- Analyze cost impacts of proposed modifications, upgrades, and new software implementations
- Conduct feasibility studies and systems analysis for new applications or major system modifications
- Work with engineers, designers, and technicians on specific assignments
- Forecast and schedule work activities and define processes for repetitive tasks
- Act as technical liaison for troubleshooting field and factory issues involving power electronics products and systems on Johnson Controls’ chillers
- Report into the Power Electronics Department
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree on Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or similar discipline
- Although minimal experience is required for this position, knowledge of three-phase power through internship/co-op experience, or coursework
- Circuit design experience through internship/co-op experience, or coursework
- US citizen and/or Permanent Resident
- Preferred: Master's degree and/or Ph.D. degree with focus in Power Electronics
- Preferred: Experience on power electronics controls
- Preferred: Experience on IGBT based inverters
- Preferred: Experience on advanced tools such as Matlab/Simulink, OPAL-RT, Saber, HIL
- Preferred: HVAC industry experience
- Candidates must be commuting distance, or able to relocate
