About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Receive service calls and descriptions of equipment/system malfunctions
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/system problems
- Diagnose, service, repair, troubleshoot, install, and test electronic fire alarm and related building systems at customer sites
- Service, troubleshoot, and install Fire & Life Safety systems from multiple manufacturers, including SimplexGrinnell
- Follow troubleshooting procedures and use technical manuals, diagrams, schematics, and bulletins
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals
- Communicate with district staff and customers to ensure customer satisfaction
- Complete service acknowledgements and obtain customer signatures
- Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and perform occasional after-hours work
- Train or mentor others on the service team
- Repair/reprogram panels, replace/repair devices, resolve low-voltage circuit troubles, and test systems
- Organize and use technical resources, information, materials, and support efficiently
- Complete required task, activity, productivity, and other documentation
- Provide recommendations, solutions, and quotes, including upselling opportunities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2+ years documented experience in low voltage electrical systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Access Control, Nurse Call, and Paging systems
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals
- Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, and commissioning devices
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Capable of carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50–70 lbs.
- Able to work in difficult positions, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high-lift equipment up to 40 feet; working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends
- Demonstrated high level of customer service
- Maintain truck inventory
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and procedures
- Valid driver’s license and driving record meeting company requirements
- Retain licenses required by National, State, and Local codes
- NICET Level II certification strongly preferred
- Experience with CCTV, IT, and IP networks is a plus
