About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Service and repair, design, configuration, and operation of complete HVAC building control systems and other low-voltage control subsystems
  • Develop complex software programs, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure proper building control system operation
  • Design, configure, and service technically complex building control systems
  • Create flow diagrams, sequences of operation, bills of material, network layouts, schedules, and electrical schematics
  • Develop and test software programs according to customer facility requirements
  • Coordinate and create drawings and equipment schedules for submittals, services, and installations
  • Select, order, and track materials for assigned jobs
  • Assist with loading and commissioning system and network-level controllers
  • Validate complete system functionality and solve problems with subcontractors and other trades
  • Provide field-change information for as-built drawings and software
  • Keep management, JCI contractors, and customers informed of job progress and issues
  • Assist with site-specific training for owners/operators
  • Participate in coordination and release meetings with sales and service operations
  • Perform value engineering for cost-effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • May provide work direction to Service Controls Technician I and Senior I and Senior II Controls Technicians
  • Adhere to safety standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or minimum five (5) years' experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the construction, service, or HVAC industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems
  • Demonstrated experience integrating low-voltage building subsystems using industry protocols such as LON and BACnet
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly computer-related drafting tools
  • High degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety
