About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide active, ongoing day-to-day testing support for small tonnage screw and scroll units.
  • Manage tests from design and planning through execution, completion, data analysis, and presentation of results to external JCI customers.
  • Provide test engineering support for standard and non-standard contract witness testing.
  • Interface with customers and factory operation partners to resolve production issues.
  • Plan and execute tests of screw and scroll chillers.
  • Communicate with sales engineers to develop and agree upon test plans.
  • Create test request details defining conditions needed to meet customer requirements.
  • Use an in-house rating program to determine chiller-rated performance.
  • Perform calculations to simulate fouling effects.
  • Acquire and provide input for, and set up, data acquisition software.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot chillers that fail to operate or meet performance requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve data acquisition system issues.
  • Communicate results and issue resolutions to sales engineers and external customers.
  • Provide testing-result summaries to product engineering for further analysis.
  • Present laboratory design and setup, instrumentation calibration methods and records, and AHRI and Eurovent testing procedures and tolerances to customers.
  • Work with sales engineers and customers to resolve testing concerns or misunderstandings.
  • Participate in revising standard procedures, test standards, and processes.
  • Develop or recommend new procedures, processes, or resources to improve testing efficiency, accuracy, or capability.
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in IMA, IME or related field.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of direct work experience in small tonnage screw and scroll chiller equipment development testing.
  • Good understanding of HVAC/R systems, concepts, and diagnostics, as applied to both test subjects and test facilities.
  • Background in engineering and testing, using test instrumentation for test data acquisition and data analysis, test troubleshooting and diagnostics, technical reporting, and related communication at various levels.
  • Related experience in electronics/software, including starters, variable frequency drives, and control systems, is a plus.
  • Sound and/or vibration testing experience with instrumentation and acquisition/analysis software, especially MAARS, Bently Nevada, or Bruel & Kjaer, is a plus.
  • General test data acquisition and sensors hardware/software experience, especially LabVIEW and National Instruments, is a plus.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
