About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Redefine global protein therapeutic development labs into highly automated, data-centric labs
  • Own end-user-facing tools for computational fluid dynamics modeling, in silico drug development, cell engineering analyses, and digital automation programs
  • Modernize the AWS landscape for security, containerization, and cost efficiency
  • Serve as technical owner of SaaS and OPx/VPx applications for lab operating and analysis technologies
  • Coordinate server installations and upgrades for bioreactor systems such as Ignition and BioBrain
  • Deliver digital solutions for process automation, standardization, and integration with digital platform architecture
  • Drive lean documentation practices in accordance with SDLC
  • Build digital roadmaps for end-to-end data flows from collection to consumption
  • Develop action plans and resourcing/funding proposals for capital and operating expenses
  • Collaborate with business areas, partners, vendors, technical staff, and project teams to deploy innovative solutions
  • Review business needs, refine priorities, and champion organizational change
  • Establish Outcomes & Key Results and metrics to evaluate performance and user happiness
  • Apply Johnson & Johnson’s Credo and Leadership Imperatives in daily interactions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Biotechnology, Computer Science, Systems/Automation Engineering, or a related subject area
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience enabling technical scientific solutions within the pharmaceutical or like industry
  • Proficiency in AWS S3, EC2, Lambda, cost management, and modernization
  • Strong foundational IT skills including architecture principles, data engineering, cloud computing, AI/ML, and database design
  • Experience with SDLC for GxP data systems
  • Understanding of data flows between end-users, instruments, and execution systems
  • Knowledge of network connection setup supporting R&D labs, including firewalls, server connections, and cybersecurity
  • Experience with Python, Java, or R for data integration and extraction
  • Commercial software technical management and vendor relationship experience
  • Agile methodology and project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Asset Management, and BitBucket/GitHub
  • Ability to interpret complex requirements and derive actionable insights
  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and build partnerships, teams, and trust across functions
  • Preferred: experience in scientific, digital product, or lab operations environments, especially biologic drug development or R&D
  • Preferred: commercial software deployments or upgrades at global scale
  • Preferred: experience with ISA-88/95 and establishing standards across global sites
  • Preferred: working understanding of OPC Unified Architecture and Event/Asset Framework
  • Preferred: experience leading external resources
  • Preferred: understanding of data lakes, eLab Notebooks, and historians
  • Preferred: PAT data connections and experience with SynTQ or Process Pulse
