Director – Template Transformation

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the global legal template transformation roadmap, priorities, deliverables, and measurable outcomes
- Lead assessment, consolidation, simplification, drafting, validation, and approval of templates, clauses, fallback positions, playbooks, exhibits, and guidance
- Set plain-language, user-centered content standards while maintaining legal and compliance protections
- Steward consistent legal positions and risk treatment; challenge legacy approaches and frame material issues for senior leaders
- Lead localization of globally neutral content
- Build the end-to-end operating model, including intake, simplification, taxonomy, roles, handoffs, maintenance, and supporting tools
- Establish governance for ownership, version control, approvals, exceptions, review cycles, releases, and retirement
- Sponsor implementation planning, stakeholder alignment, validation, testing, deployment readiness, and strategic risk resolution
- Define and report workstream measures for progress, adoption, simplification, cycle time, quality, risk, partner experience, and realized value
- Partner on training, communications, adoption, lessons learned, and continuous improvement
- Build alignment across Legal, business, contracting, Technology, and enabling functions
- Lead assigned team members and partners with clear roles, expectations, accountability, and capacity plans
Requirements
What you’ll need- Juris Doctor, LL.B., or equivalent law degree
- Minimum 10 years of legal or contracting experience
- Leadership of complex commercial contracting, legal operations, or enterprise transformation
- Life sciences experience strongly preferred
- Strong legal and enterprise judgment
- Experience balancing risk, compliance, business value, market practice, operational feasibility, and user experience
- Demonstrated success leading complex global workstreams and influencing senior leaders without formal authority
- Proven success delivering legal or contracting transformation at scale
- Experience connecting strategy, governance, content, technology, data, and change
- Executive communication, facilitation, decision-framing, program leadership, problem-solving, talent development, and accountability for outcomes
- Advanced training or experience in legal operations, contracting, project management, transformation, process improvement, or change management preferred
- Fluency in automation, analytics, structured data, and responsible AI preferred
