About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage PLM product group engineering activities supporting R&D and product development across the product lifecycle
- Own PLM platform capabilities, configurations, integrations, and roadmaps
- Apply AI, advanced analytics, and automation to modernize R&D platforms
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business and engineering requirements into scalable PLM solutions and governed processes
- Ensure PLM solutions comply with regulatory, quality, and data integrity requirements
- Lead and develop a team of engineers and analysts through technical direction, coaching, and performance management
- Drive continuous improvement in data quality, system usability, and operational efficiency
- Manage vendor relationships and system partners, including solution delivery, enhancements, and support models
- Support digital transformation initiatives within R&D Technology and interoperability with ERP, MES, and QMS systems
- Report into the DePuy Synthes Technology organization
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field
- 6–8 years of progressive experience in PLM, engineering systems, or R&D IT
- Hands-on experience with enterprise PLM platforms
- Strong understanding of product development and lifecycle processes in regulated environments such as medical devices, life sciences, or advanced manufacturing
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives balancing business priorities, technical constraints, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to lead and develop teams, including coaching and performance management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex requirements into practical, scalable solutions
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence without authority at senior levels
- Experience managing vendors, system integrators, or external partners in a global environment
- English required
- Travel up to 10–20%, domestic and occasional international
- Master’s degree preferred
- Experience with medical device design controls, change management, and configuration management within PLM platforms preferred
- Exposure to digital transformation initiatives across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, or Supply Chain preferred
- Familiarity with PLM integrations with ERP, MES, QMS, or analytics platforms preferred
- Prior experience in a matrixed, global organization supporting multiple product franchises preferred
- Formal people-leadership experience in an IT or engineering function preferred
- PLM, Agile, or Project Management certifications preferred
