About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide medical and scientific leadership supporting the Aesthetics & Reconstruction portfolio
- Serve as the senior medical subject-matter expert for aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery
- Provide strategic medical input into portfolio strategy, product development, lifecycle management, clinical development, regulatory strategy, and evidence generation
- Evaluate emerging clinical science, surgical techniques, technologies, and changes in clinical practice
- Provide evidence-based guidance regarding product safety, clinical performance, benefits, risks, and appropriate use
- Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs, investigators, academic centers, professional societies, and external experts
- Represent Johnson & Johnson MedTech at scientific congresses, professional society meetings, and medical forums
- Lead and participate in advisory boards, investigator meetings, KOL engagements, scientific exchanges, and physician education
- Gather external medical insights and incorporate them into medical strategy
- Partner with Clinical Operations and Evidence Generation to establish evidence priorities
- Provide physician leadership in clinical protocols, study concepts, research questions, endpoints, and analysis strategies
- Support clinical studies, investigator-initiated research, registries, and real-world evidence programs
- Contribute to peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, scientific presentations, and congress communications
- Provide medical leadership for physician education and scientific exchange
- Develop scientifically rigorous educational programs with Medical Education and stakeholders
- Ensure medical and scientific communications are accurate, balanced, evidence-based, and compliant
- Serve as a senior medical partner to Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Evidence Generation, Regulatory Affairs, R&D, Quality, Safety, Marketing, and other functions
- Bring the voice of the surgeon and patient into strategic and clinical decision-making
- Communicate complex medical and scientific information to senior leadership and cross-functional audiences
- Maintain Medical Affairs independence, scientific integrity, and patient-centered decision-making
Requirements
What you’ll need- MD or DO degree is required
- Completion of accredited plastic surgery training is required
- Current board certification in Plastic Surgery is required
- Significant clinical experience in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery is required
- Demonstrated expertise in breast implants, breast reconstruction, aesthetic breast surgery, and contemporary surgical techniques
- Strong understanding of evidence-based medicine, clinical research methodology, and interpretation of clinical data
- Ability to establish credibility and develop relationships with senior physicians and recognized clinical experts
- Excellent scientific communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a highly matrixed, cross-functional global organization
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
- 10 or more years of clinical and/or relevant industry experience following completion of medical training is preferred
- Recognized standing within the plastic surgery community is preferred
- Established relationships with national and international plastic surgery KOLs is an asset
- Leadership, committee, or active participation within relevant professional societies is highly beneficial
- Clinical research experience involving aesthetic or reconstructive surgery is preferred
- Experience as an investigator in medical device clinical studies is an asset
- Peer-reviewed publication and scientific presentation experience is an asset
- Previous experience in Medical Affairs, clinical development, or the medical device industry is beneficial
