About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as primary subject matter expert and technical point of contact for the CG BIO partnership
- Lead technical activities and decisions between external R&D teams and internal DePuy Synthes teams for global launches and product lifecycle management
- Partner with CG BIO to optimize Novosis formulations and procedural kits
- Ensure handling characteristics, release kinetics, and bioactivity meet global spine and trauma market needs
- Translate orthopedic and neurosurgeon user needs into technical specifications
- Lead brainstorming and technical collaborations for priority concepts
- Develop robust development, pre-clinical, clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement strategies
- Act as subject matter expert on rhBMP-2 and advanced bone graft substitutes
- Develop technical training modules and educational materials for global sales and marketing teams
- Engage KOLs, spine surgeons, and trauma specialists through technical education and surgical training labs
- Gather customer feedback and present at global technical conferences
- Partner with Medical Affairs, HEMA, and Clinical teams on evidence generation strategies
- Analyze biochemical and biomechanical data for marketing collateral
- Author white papers, scientific publications, and technical reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master of Science) in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Molecular Biology, or a closely related highly technical discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive R&D or technical leadership experience within the medical device, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals sector
- Documented expertise in growth factors and osteoinductive materials
- Experience working directly within the spine or orthopedic trauma spaces
- Understanding of surgical workflows, fusion criteria, and bone healing biology
- Proven track record working with carrier materials such as collagen sponges, synthetic putties, and granules
- Experience improving handling characteristics or pharmacokinetic release profiles
- Demonstrated success educating and partnering with surgeons
- Strong working knowledge of the US regulatory landscape for biologics and combination products, including BLA, PMA, 510(k), and HCT/P
- Experience supporting regulatory submissions to the FDA
