About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead downstream marketing and commercialization strategies for existing and new Shockwave Medical IVL products
  • Develop product value propositions, positioning, messaging, campaigns and collateral
  • Lead go-to-market strategies for new IVL products, including pricing, inventory planning, account targeting, segmentation and sales support
  • Oversee corporate and product brand identity, brand voice and communications across print, digital and social channels
  • Oversee medical conference strategy and related investments
  • Plan and execute global and national commercial team meetings and events
  • Provide input into product development programs, market and opportunity assessments, market research, physician feedback, design input, product development teams and portfolio prioritization
  • Oversee internal communications and public relations functions, managing direct teams and consultants
  • Provide critical input into IVL evidence strategy, publications, podium planning and investigator-initiated research grants
  • Provide strategic direction to scientific communications
  • Ensure performance, development, growth and retention of multiple teams and marketing functional excellence
  • Partner with marketing leadership, US and EU sales, clinical, manufacturing, R&D, regulatory, finance, senior management and key physicians
  • Monitor competition, procedural and market growth, reimbursement and emerging technologies
  • Report to the VP, Global Sales and Marketing and work closely with the President, senior staff, key opinion leaders and marketing team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a leadership role in a medical device environment
  • BA or equivalent experience is required
  • MBA or advanced degree is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of business finances, strategic planning, strategic marketing and sales, product development, operations and logistics
  • Understanding and awareness of the healthcare market and competitive environment
  • Understanding of working in a worldwide regulated environment
  • Experience with balloon catheter platforms used for cardiologists, interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons is preferred
  • Medical device experience in the vascular space is preferred
  • Understanding of PR, IR and social media marketing and advertising channels is preferred
  • Proven ability to design, build and manage high-performing teams, including goal setting, feedback, career development and performance management
  • Strong relationship management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment with a fast pace and continual change
  • Ability to operate independently and adapt to changing requirements
  • Experience partnering in M&A or acquisitions
  • Experience in both start-up environments and large companies is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 30% as required
