About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Undertake electrical engineering projects across civil nuclear, defence, renewable energy and storage sectors
  • Deliver small scoping and feasibility studies for modifications or upgrades
  • Design complex process plants, including nuclear power stations and COMAH sites
  • Deliver innovation projects from concept through to acceptance
  • Design high-voltage AC/DC electrical power and distribution systems, including power system and grid connection studies
  • Specify or design energy storage and power supplies
  • Manage production, verification and approval of electrical reports, specifications and detailed design drawings
  • Provide specialist equipment support for generators, transformers, switchgear and cables
  • Manage project teams to deliver agreed outputs on time and within budget
  • Develop client requirements, negotiate contracts/agreements, report progress and manage risks
  • Manage interfaces with internal multidisciplinary teams and clients
  • Mentor and develop electrical engineers
  • Help grow Frazer-Nash's electrical engineering capability and support progression into new sectors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • MEng in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Up-to-date knowledge and experience in the electrical discipline
  • Experience in electrical design (FEED and Design Specification)
  • Experience in development and verification of design/substantiation deliverables
  • Experience in transmission and distribution
  • Experience in industrial and energy
  • Experience in micro-grids
  • Experience working to the requirements of ISO 9001
  • Experience mentoring and developing electrical engineers
  • Proven technical project delivery background
  • Experience in several of: innovation projects; high-voltage AC and DC electrical power and distribution system design; power system/grid connection studies; energy storage and power supply specification or design; electrical reports, specifications and detailed design drawings; specialist equipment such as generators, transformers, switchgear and cables; project team management; client-facing requirements development, contract/agreement negotiation, progress reporting and risk management
  • Must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting
  • CEng is desirable
  • Previous technical leadership experience on projects is desirable
  • Experience with DNO/National Grid, marine power system design, HVDC, power electronics, earthing schemes, Power Systems Asset Management ISO 55001, power system modelling tools, or regulators is desirable
