About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide systems administration and infrastructure automation support to TRMC test ranges, training and experimentation capabilities, and JMETC, SDREN, and DREN network nodes
- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux-centric server architectures across bare-metal and virtualized environments
- Install, configure, optimize, and maintain RHEL, Rocky, and CentOS systems and core services
- Develop, test, and maintain Ansible playbooks, roles, and collections for provisioning, hardening, patching, and configuration drift remediation
- Support Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes containerized environments and workload lifecycle management
- Automate DISA STIG implementation and audit verification; remediate ACAS/Nessus vulnerability findings
- Manage software repositories, system updates, and image baselines using Red Hat Satellite, Foreman, or equivalent mirrors
- Administer VMware virtualization, storage systems, networking hardware, and secondary Windows services
- Maintain cybersecurity compliance, RMF continuous monitoring, HBSS/Trellix deployments, and centralized logging/syslog infrastructure
- Author SOPs, Ansible execution guides, and architecture/network diagrams for knowledge transfer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must have an active Top Secret clearance
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Systems Administrator or Systems Engineering role
- Technical Bachelor’s degree; relevant professional experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- In-depth knowledge of Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9) system architecture, LVM, systemd, firewalld, SELinux policies, and Bash/shell scripting
- Hands-on experience developing, testing, and debugging production Ansible playbooks, inventory structures, and automation workflows
- Proven experience administering virtualization platforms, preferably VMware environments (vSphere, vCenter, vDS, NSX)
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
- Willingness to travel up to 20%
- Experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or Red Hat OpenShift
- Experience deploying and operating Red Hat Satellite/Capsule servers or automated Kickstart workflows
- Experience hardening Linux environments using SCAP tools, applying DISA STIGs, and working within DoD RMF-accredited enclaves
- Working knowledge of ACAS/Nessus vulnerability scanners and Trellix (HBSS/EPO) Linux agents
- Current DoD 8570/8140-compliant baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+, CASP+, or CISSP
- Linux Computing Environment certification, such as RHCSA, RHCE, or Linux+
- Familiarity with Layer 2/3 networking, firewall operations, DREN, and SDREN
- Experience supporting Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and PKI
