About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Handle legal work on assigned cases
  • Aggressively pursue files referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department
  • Create and maintain documented case-handling strategies, including analysis of judges, plaintiff attorneys, and aggravating factors
  • Develop, organize, and maintain document files containing pleadings, briefs, and memorandums
  • Prepare and submit timely status reports to claims handlers on significant activities, no less than every 60 days
  • Ensure files are properly documented and organized
  • Provide prompt responses to telephone calls and correspondence
  • Use and/or ensure use of case management software for notes, diary, calendar, billing, and case records in accordance with company guidelines and legal and ethical requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of experience as a trial attorney
  • Handling of insurance defense work is preferred
  • Member of the State Bar
  • Maintain all necessary licensing and continuing education requirements
  • Required to travel as needed
