About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a brand ambassador between Kemper and its partnerships and agency force
  • Grow profitable revenue within an assigned territory
  • Build and maintain impactful agency relationships
  • Identify and pursue new and emerging opportunities
  • Gather and communicate market trends, competitor intelligence, and feedback on existing products
  • Develop, organize, and execute plans to meet or exceed premium and policy goals
  • Prospect new opportunities and pursue agency appointments
  • Conduct personal visits and other field sales activities with existing agencies
  • Collect, organize, and disseminate market intelligence to leadership
  • Collaborate with sales, product, claims, agency support and licensing, marketing, and customer service/underwriting teams
  • Engage face-to-face with agencies and partners in the field
  • Evaluate territory data and prioritize agencies and relationships with growth opportunities
  • Travel outside the assigned territory, potentially frequently and extensively
  • Train agents on underwriting guidelines, procedures, programs, websites, and rating tools
  • Maintain current field activity, agency intelligence, personnel, contact, strategy, and appointment records
  • Deliver paperwork, reports, and documentation in an organized and timely manner
  • Participate in insurance association conventions, seminars, trade shows, and agency-related functions
  • Perform other duties assigned by leadership

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree (Business or Marketing preferred) or 3+ years of sales experience preferred
  • 1+ years Insurance experience preferred
  • Bilingual a plus
  • Working knowledge of insurance operations: underwriting, claims, marketing, and product
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record
  • Effective communication skills and acceptable public speaking ability
  • Flexible, highly motivated self-starter
  • Intermediate to advanced ability to manipulate, segment and interpret report data through spreadsheets
  • Highly skilled and effective at time management
  • Critical thinking and logical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret statistical data from company reports and build action plans around insights
  • Must reside in the assigned territory
