About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assure compliance with Federal, State and Local laws and Kenco safety programs
  • Manage Powered Industrial Truck Training and Personal Protective Equipment programs
  • Directly supervise up to two Powered Industrial Truck Trainers and temporary staff as needed
  • Develop and facilitate safety training programs
  • Help develop warehouse and distribution center safety programs
  • Conduct safety audits covering fire equipment, dock conditions, housekeeping, rack conditions, material conditions, and electrical conditions
  • Partner with Operations to build support for safety initiatives
  • Support incident analysis, corrective action development, and root cause determination
  • Identify and correct at-risk behaviors immediately when observed
  • Maintain required governmental reporting documents
  • Support investigations into all accidents
  • Review powered industrial equipment conditions and maintenance procedures
  • Provide safety information to supervisors
  • Assist the Safety Manager and Operations Managers with special projects requiring safety input
  • Maintain, update, and add site policies, procedures, standard work instructions, and tools for the quality management system
  • Administer the internal audit program, including training auditors, auditing processes and procedures, and measuring results
  • Identify training needs and organize training interventions to meet quality standards
  • Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues and perform root cause and corrective action investigations
  • Collect, compile, and analyze statistical quality data to identify improvement areas

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in management, occupational health and safety, human resources or engineering from four-year college or university; or two- to five-years’ experience in logistics or manufacturing management; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of six months supervisory experience and safety leadership experience
  • Experience in warehousing, distribution, or related preferred
  • Previous experience in the safety field as a safety specialist, technician, or trainer
  • Prior powered industrial truck experience
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft software
  • Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety
  • Expected travel approximately 25% or less
