About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as an integral member of the project team delivering complex design-build projects nationwide
  • Act as the primary team lead through the design development phase
  • Take ultimate responsibility for design deliverables through the design process
  • Lead an integrated design-build team and interface with clients, designers, and trade partners
  • Deliver high-quality design on budget and on schedule
  • Ensure design meets contractual obligations and program requirements
  • Lead stakeholder decision meetings, design progress meetings, and design conferences
  • Organize the design review process and lead resolution of all comments
  • Lead collaboration with the cost manager, purchasing agent, and key project stakeholders
  • Manage design issue resolution in real time
  • Participate in bid submissions and develop RFP and RFQ responses
  • Provide strategic insights to pursuit strategy
  • Travel occasionally to various locations, including active construction sites
  • Monitor and respond to communications outside regular working hours when required by business needs, time-sensitive matters, or emergencies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
  • 4-8 years of relevant work experience, preferably with design-build experience
  • Qualified experience may include work as a development manager, design manager, project manager, or design professional
  • Experience managing project staff is preferred
  • Strong interest in construction general contracting and in the design-build delivery process
  • Understanding of how to execute successful Design-Build projects
  • Basic understanding of BIM modeling
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit is a plus
  • Preferred membership in DBIA or other industry associations
  • Strong knowledge of design and cost management principles and practices
  • Clear understanding of integrated design and construction schedules
  • Understanding of architecture firms’ business model, design principles and process
  • Ability to lead a collaborative design process with various stakeholders
  • Ability to train, manage and influence several direct reports
  • Ability to motivate and collaborate with peers working at other firms
  • Ability to work with and present to executive leadership
  • Ability to participate in pursuit efforts for design-build projects
  • Self-motivated, organized team player with ability to manage work priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain a collaborative, creative work environment and influence others
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 25 pounds on occasion
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during critical project phases or client deadlines
  • Ability to monitor and respond to phone calls, emails, and text messages for time-sensitive matters or emergencies
  • Pre-employment drug “fitness for duty” screening required
  • Must comply with random quarterly drug “fitness for duty” tests
  • Must follow Clark Construction’s safety policies and procedures and applicable laws at all locations
